ONLY ONE CUSHION COVER IN STORE!
TABITABIYA's handmade designs, in keeping with the Japanese tradition, present original items, all made with either new quality Japanese fabrics or vintage kimono, haori jackets or obi belts that I found during my hunts in second-hand kimono shops. Because yes, in Japan, when kimono, haori, obi, etc. can no longer be worn, that's how they find a new life!
For this cushioncover, I chose a cotton fabric 100% made in Japan and that is entirely dedicated to a highly symbolic flower: Sakura 桜, the cherry blossom, that has become the symbol of Japan that everyone can’t wait to go and admire when spring returns. Sweetness and kindness are qualities associated with it, and its short life symbolizes the ephemeral nature of beauty, a beauty that has no time to fade. Carried away by the wind while still in full bloom, cherry blossoms do not wither, and die beautiful. Here I have paired the cotton fabric with strips of fabric cut from a vintage obi sash so that its white color enhances the sparkle of this cherry blossom pattern.
