This vintage kimono offers us a wonderful picture, a breathtaking vision of a bird deeply revered in Japan, the crane Tancho タンチョウ, the crane of the Japanese Far North. Link with the world of the Gods, symbol of life force and longevity, Tanchô is an ideal motif for celebrating happiness. His image is often associated with other equally sacred andauspicious patterns, such as Matsu 松 the pine and Kumo 雲 the clouds, clouds that can also be found on the black silk of the storage pockets. Here, Tanchô flies above pines trees, in the middle of the clouds, in a sky of a harmony of colors all in finesse, made of silver gray, white, ocher and gold and is combined with black silk to enhance its understated elegance. Just like Tanchô, Matsu and Kumo are elements of nature that are a link between the world of the Divine and the Earth.
